The granite Rose Blanche Lighthouse and attached lightkeeper’s living quarters was originally built 1871 -1873 and restored 1996-1999. At the time of restoration only the tower portion remained. It contains artefacts in every room.

The lighthouse, which is the only granite lighthouse in Atlantic Canada, is open to the public on a seasonal basis. Rose Blanche Lighthouse was designated a Registered Heritage Structure on September 7th, 2002, the first lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador to receive this recognition.

The Fisherman’s Museum (pictured above) has two display areas. The lower level contains many artefacts from the fishing industry of the past. Level 2 has artefacts from the fishermen and their families’ daily lives.

The Fisherman’s Museum is located in the Reception/Parking Lot area, and the Rose Blanche Lighthouse is located midway around the Lighthouse Walking Trail, about ½ km from the Fisherman’s Museum.
