About the Course
This course provides an overview of the principles, practices, and responsibilities of collections management in heritage institutions. Over the four weeks of prerecorded and live sessions participants will explore collections management activities such as acquisitions, documentation, digitization, and deaccessioning. Participants will examine stewardship roles and responsibilities with relevant laws and ethical frameworks of museums. And they will gain knowledge in policy making, registration, records management, classification systems, museum standards, and physical management of collections.
This course consists of 4 pre-recorded sessions and 2 live sessions. The schedule is provided in the full course description, available here. Please note that the live sessions will not be recorded.
Registration
This is a core course for the Museum Studies Certificate Program, but you do not have to be completing the certificate to take the course.
