As part of the commemoration of Newfoundland and Labrador joining Canada in 1949, the Provincial Government is announcing two grant programs to enable communities and heritage groups to mark the milestone 75th anniversary.
The Community Celebrations and Events Grant is for municipalities, local service districts and Inuit Community Governments to support Confederation 75 celebratory events. Funding amounts will vary based on population size and funded events must take place between April 1 and July 15, 2024.
The Heritage and Indigenous Cultural Projects Grant is intended for heritage organizations (museums, archives, historical societies, historic trusts) and Indigenous organizations with a cultural or heritage mandate. Funding eligibility is $2,500 for exhibits, projects, programs or events thematically related to Newfoundland and Labrador’s Confederation with Canada.
Celebrate NL will administer both grant programs. Applications for the Community Celebrations and Events Grant and the Heritage and Indigenous Cultural Projects Grant can be found here and will be accepted until March 1, 2024.
