World Digital Preservation Day, November 2, 2023 – and the Global ‘Bit List’ of Endangered Digital Species

World Digital Preservation Day is organized by the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and supported by digital preservation networks around the globe. It’s open to all sectors, for anyone interested in digital preservation!

This World Digital Preservation Day, the DPC will launch the Global ‘Bit List’ of Endangered Digital Species 2023, a community-sourced list of at-risk digital materials and a free, open resource for digital preservation advocacy. Family records, Smartphone apps, local government records, community-generated content in arts and heritage, and digital archives of community groups were listed as critically endangered last year. Be sure to check out what gets listed this year!

Institutions all over the world celebrate World Digital Preservation Day on the first Thursday in November. Check out the list of global events to see what’s being offered this year!
