Workshop Description:
This workshop introduces participants to the core principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and explores how UDL can be applied in program design, exhibit development, and interpretation. UDL is a framework that supports development of inclusive and flexible learning environments. This framework works by ensuring that learning environments are built to be inclusive from the get-go, without requiring visitors–including people with disabilities, neurodiverse individuals, children, and multilingual audiences–to seek out their own supports.
Whether you are a curator, educator, designer, or heritage worker, this workshop will support you in creating heritage spaces as inclusive, engaging, and equitable paces of learning for everyone. This workshop is inspired by Memorial’s School of Social Work’s Universal Design for Learning Community of Practice.
Please see the full workshop description here.
This workshop is a credit course for MANL’s Museum Studies Certificate Program, but you do not need to be enrolled in the program to participate in the workshop.
